As professional snooker, they will use two aimming method to verify the aim point. By that, they know the deviation of aim point. If deviation is so great, they will hesitate on that shot and evaluate again. So when you see the game, they sometime walk around, redo the action again when they are uncertain.

But DingJunHui is so sure the aim point so he must has his own version of aim method, not in any book

The name of game is pot the ball into pocket. So I target high accuracy (95%). This is what I am practiceing now.

As shooting , you should know how the ball is going into pocket.
1. straight into pocket without touching cushion
2. hit which sides of cushion and then bounce into pocket

/* Standard Cue Method */
-------------------------------
1. Higher (Follow shot)
2. Medium
3. Low (Stop shot)
4. Pull back

Most book do not tell difference between low and pull back shot. The difference is that "Pull back" shot you need to push palm downward slightly to increase contact surface between cue ball and cue tip. For doing so, it will increase friction and then pull back cue ball backward

/* Pull Back Shot */
----------------------
Depend on the following factor
1. friction of cue tip
2. distance between cue tip and cue ball
3. impulsive power (force) you give

Notice there is two type power :{impulsive push, smooth push}

/* Theory and Reality */
---------------------------
I consult with some 40 point in one break player in mainland China for doing practices in real game. Becuase they gamble about RMB$200 - 300 each game. They are serious about technique - it means money to them.

I show them theory; They show me howto do it in the game.Sometimes, there is difference. I absord their experience, They learn the formal theory of snooker. This is how I spend weekend (Sat, Sun)

Sometimes, the book show me new technique but I am not up to that standard to do it .So I ask "gambler" to show me howto do it. When I am studying snooker tech and places my snooker book on the table, they laugh at me . say

"I never see someone learning snooker likes that"

Usually, they ask me to practices with them and gives pressure to them to train them in mentally. Sometimes they ask what formal theory say in certain condition.

So most of theory has been verified and work in real game.

/* Cue Weight */
--------------------
Cue weight : 16 to 22 oz

For beginner, it is better than to choose heavy weight (21 to 22 oz) cue to give more stablility when shooting cue ball.

Heavy cue can improve distance shot accuracy for beginner. From my past experience, I get very high acurracy when using heavy weight cue after 3 month distance shot training

As stability improve, you can choose light weight cue (just like professional snooker, Henry, Dave, Gram Dott about 18 oz)

/* Higher (Follow thru) */
-----------------------------
I find some trainer who cannot tell difference between medium-higher shot and higher shot.

The "real" higher shot :
Cue ball stop a while after hitting target, moving forward quickly because of forward spinning

The "medium high shot"
Cue ball move forward with a transient stop

DingJunHui's higher shot is most classical one. : stop and running

/* Howto learn */
-------------------

I know it is hard to learn technique in word.
The best step :
1. Someone show you howto
2. Do it again by yourself
3. Someone correct you on the spot

I think the truth is that I did not have the concept of virtual point. So throwing out the old concept is not an issue for me.

quote:
The good point of this aimming method is no virtual point, just visible aim point.So everyone will know where is aim point, it is also why JK47 can learn so quickly within 1 hour

/* About learning from professional */
-------------------------------------------

I ask my teacher some advanced technique but he say no. The reason why is I am not up to that leve

"Even I teach you how, you don't know or comprehend. It is just to confuse you. Just keep on practising a distance straight shot until you get 95% success"

So I stick to this "boring exercise" for 3 month, 2 hr a day

Marco Fu is lucky because he get support from HK gov sport center no matter his merit in the match.

You see China professional player have miserable life in England except Mr. Ding.

To arsir
Tonight(2006.Oct.25 22:00), I see you have the game with JK47. In that game, you score 60 point - it is good result

In the end of game, you show JK47 about cue method. It is quite different what I learn from the book.It is good for me to have something differnet what I know.

Thank so much!!
