The differences between 1-piece and 3/4 cues are actually very small. So small that it won't have almost any effect to your game.
I personally have a 1-piece and 3/4 cue with the same specifications (same cue maker as well). To be honest, I can feel their differences. But because they are different doesn't mean that one is better than the other.
For sure, 3/4 has the convenience in travelling that 1-piece doesn't have. Yet, 1-piece doesn't have any joint problems in contrast.
