Hi Everybody,
Could anybody help me to solve my query, as I found when I just pot the object ball, there's no problem on the follow through cue action but when I want to control the cue ball, it can't be gone smoothly, very often I miss the pot but cue ball can go to the area I expected, it seems I push the cue ball not strike. I don't know whether I should concentrate to pot the object ball with determind pace and spinning only or ???? I am really confused. Hope somebody help me how to pot the ball with cue ball control.
Thank you.

Hi Ransome , I`m not sure what i`m saying is the answer to your question but there`s no harm trying . When u are playing a shot without having to play position .... it`s easy if u know how to pot , but when u are playing the same shot with position require ...... then it`ll be alot more difficult as it also require accurate and cueball control . I think the reason why u are missing the pot is that u focus too much on the position and forgot about how hard it`s for the potting when both are took into consideration , so the best way is to aim for the pot first and then the position as if the pot doesn`t go in ...... then it`s no use if the position is perfect anyway . U have also mention about striking the cueball and puting spin or side into it , but first of all ...... forget all these for a moment , just try it with natural angle first and if the pot is success but the position is slightly off ........ THEN try it with some checkside to perfect the shot . |

Hi Hawk,
I know you are a good player for the snooker. Would you mind telling me how you normally practise. As I played snooker for about 5 years but only a few times could make a break more than 50. I am now practising twice a week according Frank Callan's website but still not quite a big improvment on this. Thank you.

Thankyou for appreciating some of my comments on snooker Ransome , About how i practise ...... i`ve said it b4 in the forum , i`m sure u could check it up quite easy . I`ve a tip for u ..... if u wanna improve your snooker ....... playing twice a week is almost impossible for anyone to improve , I would say at least 20+ if u are serious about your game . |

Hi Hawk,
Thank you for your quick reply. I agree with you there is necessary to practice a lot.
And now I have another question about cue action, hopefully it is not bothering you. As when I pot a fine cut but want the white ball travelling only for a short distance, let's say about 1 foot, it is always requires slow follow through speed or short back swing with medium speed (like drag shot) in order to keep the white ball rolling slowest possible. The question is shall I still need a follow through of the cue ball 5 inches as mostly of the guide book highly recommanded this cue action, is it also apply for every potting and cue ball control. Many thanks for your comments.
