IBSF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - CANCELLED 25 October 2005 The IBSF World Championship, due to be hosted in Karachi, Pakistan from 7-18 November, has been cancelled.
An official statement has been released by IBSF following news from the Pakistan hosts of the cancellation.
One of the main reasons cited is the diversion of sponsorship funds into the Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund. The devastating earthquake which hit Northern Pakistan has already claimed 53,000 lives and funds and relief aid have poured in from around the world.
As recently as Sunday after-shocks were felt throughout Pakistan, including minor tremors in Karachi itself. an emergency evacuation plan has been put in place for the MCC cricket tour, which has just started throughout the country.
Fifty-six players from twenty-four countries were due to line up in the men's event, with the eventual winner gaining promotion to the WSA Main Tour in 2006-7.
It is not known at present whether IBSF will be able to reschedule the event at a later date.
At one point of view, 巴基X坦 is not a safety country for all the players to go to.
Besides whether it will still have IBSF championship this year or not, it is a good thing that players no need to go to 巴基X坦 to compete the tournament with big risk.
