well...thanks!!! i take that as a compliment. what i suggest you is go to learn all the basics first, things like grip, stand, cueing, potting lineup...etc. and plus long hours practise every day, this is only way become a better snooker player, there's no other short cut. how ever i do know a simple method how to looking for a potting spot on the object ball. 1: put a blue ball on blue spot then standing behind blue ball and facing towards middle pocket. 2: place a red ball behind blue ball on a stright line towards middle pocket and two balls must be touching together. now, if you use white ball to hit red ball as full ball contact from any angle behind red ball then blue ball should be go into middle pocket for sure, so this is telling you that touching spot between blue ball and red ball is the potting spot you are looking for, even white ball change position on the table and the potting spot of the blue ball still will be the same one. but this only teach you to find out and see a potting line does not make you to do right, so without all the basic techniques nothing will be easy for you on the snooker table. |

you are welcome... may i ask you where are you from & where do you play snooker??? "potting lineup" it's mean...before hit white ball you must find a potting line from white ball to the potting spot on the object ball then you can stand behind white ball and on that potting line to make a shot... |

Hi Cueboy,
Interested in your tuition over the web. I have been playing snooker for over one year now and I have become a fanatic. I saw different theories on aiming - potting angles, point of contact, ball fraction and ghost ball. I tried all of them but they don't give me consistent result. Which is your way of aiming?
I watched many snooker match videos and I have the opinion that even the top players are not spending time at aiming, they just use their memories, am I right? - as I saw in the 2001 Embassy final that even Higgins and O'Sullivan missed a couple of very easy shots - they should not have missed if they have a consistent and standard aiming system. Or am I right that they first use the above classic aiming skill and then fine-tune with their memories?
When I play frequent I can make a break of 30 sometimes but not often, how can I improve this? I think practice can give more improvement than playing with opponent - as cueing time will be less when your opponent is good. Are you practicing, and how often?
best regards/ricky |
