Do you know why pool or snooker cues are made of wood? Most probably because it is natural to give you more responsiveness than aluminium or fibre could meet. It is reckoned to be more powerful and react smoothly than any other substance made.
Different kinds of wood has a unique texture and a distinct feel to suit each one despite of the attractiveness of natural wood pattern to choose from.
This is only my interpretation. Correct me if I am wrong.
