I am a novice, so I also have that problem. I thought my problem was 'out Q' not straight. But today I found out that 'out Q' was not my essential problem. The problem is my eyes.I was too tired when play snooker so I tried to close my left eye and keep right eye above the cue to aim today(before use 2 eyes aim). And I found the accuracy was sharply increase. Very excited.

I think 2 things.
1.You cannot shoot a straight line coz your form was not firmed enough. Most people really doesn't do the steps well, and lay down very quick and aim the shots.
2.If you experienced a big difference of shooting the balls even you concentrated very much, I think your targeted shooting angle was wrong. Again, I believe you have lay down too quick. As Steve Davis always said, you cannot target the right angle when lay down. That's why you must stand and focus on the angle of where you should shoot and line up a straight line and form.

Just an unconfirm but self experience. If your form and everything is doing ok, mostly if you failed a shot, they are more likely thicker then thinner.
May the force be with you.
