之前又話呢隻牌子係吹水呃人既，又話用既木材係cheap野，又話根本冇咩新技術，係cheap既cue但係賣到貴一貴，Hendry會唔會用支咁既cue。

TOP147訊 07年世錦賽首輪比賽中，剛剛更換了新球桿的亨得利在1-5落後的情況下成功逆轉了比賽，以10-7淘汰了首次在克魯斯堡亮相的大衛-吉爾伯特，躋身16強。而他的這支新球桿，也從他第一節的比賽開始，就成為了眾人口中的話題。

　　亨得利比賽期間，作為BBC評論員的史蒂夫-戴維斯介紹說，肖恩-莫菲在聊天中向他透露了亨得利換了新球桿的消息。對於亨得利在一年中最重大比賽之前不到一個月更換球桿，戴維斯半開玩笑地說亨得利真的“很勇敢”。甚至還將一支球桿帶到了演播室，為觀眾饒有興致地講解起來。

　　亨得利現在的這支新球桿，設計師是克里斯-亨利（Chris Henry，Peter Ebdon的前教練）。亨得利自己認為，他的這支Acuerate球桿跟他四年前損壞的那支非常的像。當時他第一眼就看上了這跟球桿，並且在用它打的第二場練習賽中就打出了一桿147。

　　“我和克里斯就各種球桿的不同力感進行了一番討論，而他說的話對我也有所觸動。”亨得利說，“這個賽季我打得不是很好，所以我想，我應該用它打一下試試，看看會怎麼樣。結果我在練習中打得出奇的好。”

　　四年前，亨得利因為球桿的損壞無奈第一次換了球桿。他之前的那支球桿，從他最初開始接觸台球時就跟隨他左右，幫助他得到了不計其數的榮譽，其中就包括他最為人稱道的七屆世界冠軍，令他成為一代球王。但就在四年前，剛剛參加過歐亞對抗賽從泰國回英國的時候，他卻意外得知自己這支寶貝球桿在機場被損壞。

　　“我從14歲時開始擁有這支球桿，雖然當時只花了40英鎊，但其價值遠遠超過了這個數字。” “當我抵達倫敦的時候，他們聯繫我，說我的球桿被損壞了。”亨德利敘述道，“他們說只是小的刮傷——但我還是非常害怕——當我在格拉斯哥見到它的時候，它彎的就像牧羊人用的鉤杖。”

　　之後，即使當他在去找世界級的球桿護理專家勞瑞-安南達爾（Lawrie Annandale）對球桿進行修復。儘管安南達爾在幾年中多次幫助亨得利球桿維護，但這次面對損壞嚴重的球桿，他這位大師也無能為力了。最終亨得利只好決定換桿，這次他求助的是著名球桿製造商John Parris。更換了球桿之後，亨得利經過了一段時間的適應期，便一舉獲得了03年英國公開賽的冠軍。

　　實際上類似的情況在亨得利之前也並不是沒有先例。1977年，約翰-斯潘塞（John Spencer）那支陪伴他多年的球桿在被汽車撞壞之後，斯潘塞依舊不捨地更換，更是請技師幫他給修補了起來。不過最後他還是意識到，他應該換根新球桿了。在一次為期兩個星期的表現賽過程中，他開始使用一支加拿大的兩節式球桿，並且給他增添了很多信心。在那之後不久，世錦賽首次在克魯斯堡舉行，斯潘塞就是運他手裡的這支新武器奪得了那年的世錦賽冠軍。不過要是想像斯潘塞當初把世錦賽獎盃奪回，並陳列在他在蘇格蘭斯特靈的俱樂部中那樣，亨得利還要付出更大的努力才行。
