O'Sullivan storms past Robertson
O'Sullivan got stronger as the match went on
Ronnie O'Sullivan surged into the quarter-finals with a 13-10 win over Neil Robertson after an enthralling second-round clash at The Crucible.
Starting the session level at 8-8, the pair went toe-to-toe again as they shared the first four frames for a 10-10 scoreline at the interval.
Robertson had the chance to edge ahead, but a missed pink to clinch the 21st frame allowed O'Sullivan to steal it.
O'Sullivan never looked back, taking the final two for a thrilling win.
The missed pink - which would have taken Robertson 11-10 ahead - was a body blow for the Australian and O'Sullivan took full advantage.
"I'm disappointed I had to play that pink with the rest at 10-10 because I had a bad contact when screwing back from potting the red," said Robertson.
"If I'd had my hand on the table I would have gone 11-10 up and he would have been vulnerable from there."
The Rocket did benefit from a fluked red at the start of what proved to be the final frame, but a break of 88 put the match beyond Robertson.

Robertson made a major contribution to one of the best matches of the tournament, fighting back from 6-2 down to level at 8-8 after two sessions including a break of 140.
"I'm pleased to have got through," said O'Sullivan, who declared himself unsatisfied with the standard of his long potting.
"Neil pots so well and is dangerous among the balls, which can be quite intimidating. He was potting so cleanly and sweetly and hitting the back of the pockets with authority.
"He's a bit of a powerhouse - you have to try to contain him. But I had to stamp my authority on the match too, although I never felt all that comfortable."
Robertson said he could take great heart from his performance against the bookies' favourite for the world title.
"I played really well and I'm proud with how I came back from 6-2 down," said the 25-year-old.
"I didn't bother trying to slow the game down and make people turn off their TVs - I tried to give it a go."
O'Sullivan will take on the in-form John Higgins in the last eight.
