I recently buy a combo drive to burn the CDs.

But there are 3 failures in 10 attempts.

The situation is as follows:

The drive just shows the red light for a long time but there is no writing at all as shown in the Neroburn software.

What is the possible reason for this? Thank you for help.

Yes , like that , help me pls ~

But it is an internal drive used externally and linked to my notebook USB by a USB to IDE conversion cable. Is it a major cause?

應該唔關事 ..
因為 buffer under run 情況應該唔似你講果種 ...
你不如 check 一 check 個 firmware up 唔 update 先啦！

意思係介乎於 "軟體" 與 "硬體" 之間o既媒體。

而家好多產品 (尤其係電腦產品) 都已經好廣泛咁使用架啦！
至於 CD-WRITER / DVD-WRITER 亦都係最經常需要 UPDATE 架！

但係因為你之前都無提過你而家果件 combo drive 係乜東東，
所以我都幫你 check 唔到最新o既 firmware version 係乜！
不過你都可以響產品商o既網站好易搵到最新o既 firmware，
所以你都唔需要擔心！
至於你如果想 check 你果部 combo drive o既 firmware version，
你就可以用番 NERO o既 "Nero Info Tool" check 得番！

但係當你真正需要 update firmware o既時候你就打醒十二萬分精神呀！
因為 update 過程中一定唔可以出錯架！
一錯左你個 drive 就玩完架啦！
小心！小心！！

One of the strange problem is that after I press the "Stop" in NeroBurn , the drive still shows red light permanently.

My one is LiteOn Combo Drive 52 32 52

The drive shows red light for long time but there is no percentage increase at all in the software.

this problem really sacrifices many discs

你老哥個 writer 如果內置式叫做 "SOHC-5232K"，
如果外接式叫做 "SOHC-5232KX" 呀 ~~
而最新 FIRMWARE 係響 8-JUL-04 更新o既，
咁你自己去下面個址 download 完就 check 一 check 啦！

Thank you, but I have ascertained that it is not the problem of firmware because the existing one has been the most updated one

And it is not the matter of the quality of the discs too.

Recently , the failure rate is strictly increasing but I am confident that it is not the problem of the combo drive.

really a headache ~

我初步 鎖定問題是在燒碟gei software 度~

因為我換jor 用 nti cd-dvd maker 燒 , 就再無問題~

so , 呢家反而需要搵 non-nero gei　ｓｏｆｔｗａｒｅ

不過 ... 我現正使用 超過六個牌子、超過 十台 O既 WRITER，包括：
2-16X : DVD +/- (RW) 或者 2-52X : CD-R (RW) ..
都係用緊 NERO 黎燒o既，
其實我真係唔想講出口架啦 ..
我從來都聽聞過 writer 附送o既 nero 會燒唔番自己出果部 writer o既 ...
同埋你知道 nero burn 係製造商 "指定" 一定要 compatible o既軟件嗎？
你自己得閒就上網搵一搵多d資料啦 ..
其實你要問o既問題 "全部" 都可以 "好容易" 搵到晒！
自己要先負下責任先至得架！
