Think of it as a developement of snooker. Hendry changes the game completely. Since he starts playing, you must beat him by making a high break in order to win. The snooker today does not allow you to have as many mistake as it used to. I cannot blame them all acting as robots as their living depends on their performance.
I still remember when I start playing snooker. The only source to watch snooker is "sport world" at TVB once a week. There is only a section for snooker for 15 mins. They will only choose century break's clip to broadcast. It gives an illusion to US auduence that snooker is very easy! That is why many people start playing (including me).
It was fun to watch match in old time. I like to see those players too (Alex higgins, Griffens, Kirk Stevens, etc). 1985’s CORAL final Davis vs A.Higgins is definitely a classic! (commentator Mr Chin Cho Ho was also magificient too, today’s commentator……) As pervious message mentioned, they all have their own style. However, 2 cushions or 3 cushions to position your cue ball is just TOO DANGEROUS in todays' game. They all know their ability for break building. They can easily to have a 70 breaks. Therefore, to position their cue ball, they will only use the SIMPLEST method – stun, Stun and STUN.

Hi, Mike. You mean the one Alex won 16-15 ? It should be 1983 Coral UK Final - the match Alex's fans never forget. right ? Magic moments of course should include Steve vs Jimmy (84 World Championship Final), Steve vs Dennis (85 World Championship Final, remember the last black in last frame ?). Yes, I don't blame the new players for playing like robot too, just not interesting to watch. For positioning, I mean show off in less important game like playing in Hong Kong but not in official game and critical moment. Ha Ha. Nice to hear your comment anyway. |

Yes! That was the match!!
I started playing snooker only 1 year at that time. I still remember it was not a racing day. Then "Lai Dic" arranged this fantastic match to boardcast. Too bad my family did not have VCR at that time. I wish I could have it taped by then...
It is 83 match...What an old story...
There was a lot of fine memory back then: A. Higgins' finger Tony Knowles' large hand moment Tony Meo's right hand using rest Griffths' split fingers K. Stevens' 147
