I am surprise that why no one reply to this question cause I thought the topic was quite good. I am not very good at controlling my nerve, but I will give the question a go anyway...
In my opinion, there are a few reasons why a player will become nervous. It could be because of the opponent (Usually this happen in competition, because no idea who the competitors are) Also, under competition pressure, a player usually can't perform 100% as in practice or in social games. So when the player can't pot as much as he/she used to be in social/practice, he/she will start to think negatively, and therefore he/she is likely to become stressful (like sweating, heart beating quicker, and feel cold)
When this happen, it is very likely that the player will choose the wrong shots to play and even start missing easy shots. And because of this, his/her opponent will be more relax and even playing with more confident.
There are still lot of other reasons why a player can be nervous but really the solution is always the same... i.e. practice... you can practice how to stay calm as many books teaches you and this method is also suggested by snooker coaches too.
In my opinion, there are no quick and easy way to calm down in snooker and prevent "lup" cue, and the best way I suggest is really go out to play more tournaments and also play with more different people especially good players. When you got more experience, you will find yourself easier to control your nerve and you are more likely to perform normal and even to catch back from many points behind.
If you are novices in this game, I think it is better to keep an attitude that "I am trying to learn" when playing tournaments rather than putting too much pressure on yourself by think "I have to play very good and win"... By having the former intention, it is more likely to perform better than having the later thought. After all, Marco Fu got beaten all the time when he just starting his game. |

JP's idea is very good ne... but his writing style is still better, just three simple and sharp sentenses have brought out the whole point then my six paragraphs ne... When I come back to HK, not only I've to learn how to play snooker from you, but also how to improve my written expression ne... I wish I can have you to look at my essay before sumbitting to my lecturer ne... I am sure I will 增強自信 on getting good marks... |

最好平時有練波的習慣,無論玩波又好,打錢又好,比賽都好,都要用同一個節奏, 爬底一覺得有問題就起番身,從新做多次,輸嬴好閒,別太在意. |
