I think the opening of pocket generally is about 3.5", but there are different cut from different maunfacturer. Also WSA and IBSF have their own size template which used for the cutting of the pocket, so I believe they are slightly different to each other too. Even two table are both having 3.5" pockets, that doesn't mean they are the same, cause the amount of undercut in the pocket affect how easy/difficult they are going to accept the balls. That's why when you play in "comp table", it is bit harder to pot...
I have heard that in England, the tables used for qualifing round are actually having tighter pocket then those used on TV. I don't know that is true or not, but I guess it make sense cause they want the best players goes on TV, and they want those players make good breaks on TV. |
