That's right! They are no different, just the matter of making marks on the white ball.

Stephen Hendry said there are difference between them. He said green is the best. |

If have choice, 'Green' chalk must be the one to pick. It is because the power is finer. The finer the power, the least possibilities of missing cue. |

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Dec-28-02 AT 09:48 PM (GMT)] As I know, blue chalk is stickier than green chalk. And that is the reason why blue chalk leave marks on cue ball much easier than green one. Also when chalk left on the surface of the cue ball, kick shot may occour more often. In professional games, players are only allow to use green chalk, because marks will not leave on the cloth easier. The snooker club which i am using only allows people to use green chalks.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Dec-28-02 AT 11:30 PM (GMT)] You are right. Using chalk is for reducing miss cue. BUT it is no neccessisty to make the tip such sticky. The only thing you need to do is to put chalk on your tip thin and even. It is enough to produce friction for your screw shots. You can see some professional players do not put chalk many many times for one shot. They usually put one or two times for every shot. This can give their tips even on chalk and because the chalk layer is thin, not easy to leave marks on cue ball. As a result, kick shot will be avoid. You can also see every professional player will ask the referee to clean up the cue ball when they find any chalk mark leaves on the cue ball. Because the blue chalk is sticky, therefore the chalk stick on cue ball easily. This is what i know and what i had understood. If I am wrong, I also hope anyone and correct me. Thanks.
