Have anyone ever heard of 'Quiet Eye'. This is a sport research done by University of Florida in USA and University of Calgary in Canada. This is a very interesting research I found that is facinating.
In their tests, Singer and Frehlich found pool players who had the longest quiet eye duration -- those who focused the longest on meaningful objects such as a cue ball and the target ball -- before shooting were the most successful with their shots, Singer said.
Singer also found that the more experienced and highly skilled players made fewer fixations on the cue ball and target ball than novice players, but each fixation lasted longer.
Please review these sites on their research http://www.napa.ufl.edu/99news/pool.htm http://www.pbs.org/saf/1206/video/watchonline.htm (click on Quiet Eye) http://www.pbs.org/saf/1206/segments/1206-1.htm
I found this research very helpful. It give me a reminder of not to look at any un-meaningful object - Focus only on meaningful objects. But for potting, I think the most important is imaging and feel the stroke even before hitting the cue ball. Feel the sweet sound of the cue when you strike the cue ball with perfect timing (Cue hits the cue ball while travelling at its fastest pace - no matter it is a soft touch or powerful shot - cue must hit the cue ball at its top speed.)
Happy snooker everybody

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jul-22-03 AT 04:00 PM (GMT)]Watch the video on the following site. Click on "Quiet Eye" I will pay attention on the Golf section, since the game of golf is very similar to snooker.
